Matrix, a leading hair care brand and subsidiary of L’Oreal USA, has announced its collaboration with Google Glass – and is the first beauty brand to utilize the wearable technology. (Check out the stylist’s high-tech video recorder goggles, shown).

Matrix is launching “Matrix Class for Glass” – a new beauty education program for 2014. It includes in-depth tutorials will be filmed using Google Glass technology – to capture styling sessions directly from the eye of the stylist.

“This new initiative will completely transform the hair styling experience,” declares VP/ Matrix General Manager Paul Schiraldi.

“Wearable technology is the next frontier -poised to revolutionize the way we live and work, in the same way that smart phones and tablets have done.”We’re extremely excited to be leading the way in professional and consumer hair education with this initiative,” says Schiraldi.

The first phase of the Matrix program will be a Blogger Video Series, to showcase America’s best known bloggers as they explore the latest trends. The videos will be posted on matrix.com, youtube.com/matrix, as well as on blogger social media channels.

Next, beginning in April 2014, Matrix will showcase the new Google technology through its Professional Education Platform.

Classes for pro stylists and colorists will be held across the country – and seen for the first time from the stylist’s perspective – while they cut, color and style while wearing Google Glass.

The classes will be led by Matrix Artistic Directors, Nicolas French, Chrystofer Benson and Ammon Carver. Also this spring, the first Professional Google Glass App will launch. It will house an exclusive library of content that can be downloaded by Matrix consumers and professionals.

But the most exciting part of the program will be for the customers at The Andy LeCompte Salon in Los Angeles.Later this year, the salon will feature the Matrix Eye for Style Google Glass Salon Chair.

Customers can take advantage of exclusive appointments with Papanikolas, who will capture each person’s style and finish service via Google Glass. Videos will be emailed to the client to serve as a personalized at-home tutorial. (And doesn’t this sounds like a dream, for so many women?)

“Salon clients and women around the world have long lamented the fact that they’re unable to have their talented hairstylists at their side to recreate their favorite salon hairstyles at home,” says Matrix Celebrity Stylist, George Papanikolas.”Now, thanks to the technology of Google Glass and Matrix, the salon experience is forever changed.”
